Perfect restaurant! Inviting atmosphere and quality food and flavors. Unique wines, including orange wine, available. The cauliflower app with the crispy bits was amazing, as were the duck and sturgeon. Would highly recommend!

This was a great place! It had a speak-easy aesthetic to it. Very much a “Portlandy” place, in the best way. The menu was one page in length and every dish was incredible. Each dish had its own unique flavor profile and was presented nicely. The wine was delicious as well. The staff was hospitable and kind. I went back to work the next day telling several co-workers about L’Orange.

This European Mediterranean PNW inspired restaurant is quaint, adorable, cozy and has all the little details down even including their cute bathroom decor. I loved all the different colorful wallpaper throughout. They have different rooms for their seating which makes it more intimate and not as loud. The staff is down-to-earth and very helpful with the menu and narrowing down choices from the wine list to the menu and dessert. I personally loved the cheese small plate (fun to eat), scallop small plate, French onion soup, pork & duck main entrees. The execution of each dish was excellent. The wine selection is fantastic as well. The prices are also very reasonable so you’re able to try several items without breaking the bank. I would highly recommend this spot for any occasion, really, but a nice date night or girls night would be perfect. I can't wait to come back to try more.

Every dish exceeded my expectations. The wine was superb and not as pricey as a lot of other high-end restaurants. Dining area is very small but felt intimate rather than crowded. Cannot recommend highly enough!

I made a reservation for my birthday prior to their "Top 50 Restaurants in the U.S.," courtesy of the NYT, and I'm glad I did - reservations fill up quick. The food was great, but what really blew me away was their ability to be flexible. My husband was coming home on an international flight and his flight delay put us missing our reservation by 30 minutes and I got into contact with them the second that I knew (sorry for the 6:00 am text ). Granted, it could have been a coincidence that day (it was a Friday and maybe there weren't too many people clamoring for a spot), but they were able to work with me and allow us to come to our table for a 1.5 hour service instead of a 2. That alone would make me come back, the food really was a plus at that point there are also nonalcoholic drink options that I really appreciated as I no longer drink. But yes, come for the food and stay for the service! Excited to try more of their menu next time.

This restaurant is so stellar on all levels that it is the perfect date night/special occasion spot. Yet prices are so reasonable you could go every month. Every course was perfect—the chicken liver mousse tart, the roasted cauliflower, the sturgeon atop pureed squash and white beans, and my husband’s pork dish which was so good and complex; every bite deserved to be savored. Don’t miss the unforgettable cheese course where the soft white cheese comes out of a cheese press shaped like a flower. Served with candied hazelnuts it is a great way to finish a meal. But wait! We also tried the orange cake with a creme brulee finish. We sat at the counter and Erica, our server, was very attentive and made great recommendations. We found this because of a New York Times review. So sorry we didn’t know about it sooner, but we will be back! It’s located in an historic former hotel and has maintained every inch of the original old Portland charm.

Wow, what an amazing experience this restaurant offers! So to warm convivial atmosphere with a great food suggestions and wine pairings. The menu changes frequently so best to not have any preconceived notions about what will be there that evening. I had the chicken liver tart, cold, smoked sturgeon and orange cake all were simply fantastic

Overall, a good experience and a restaurant that I would recommend to others. All the dishes I ordered were solid with some being great and the wine recommendations were well received. The cute, albeit crowded atmosphere has some good charm and the kitchen is very fast and efficient. The scallop starter was my highlight, a wonderful blend of softly flavored ingredients that didn't overpower the raw scallop. A number of vegetarian or pescatarian choices. That said, the service could use some work and the staff continuously made the mistake of serving my food to the person next to me, also a solo diner. I get that two people sitting next to each other might convey they are together, but we were both reading our own books, not conversing, and had our own tickets. A couple dishes were also missed, and then served after the main dish when the meal was obviously finished. Still, it did not deter from the quality of food and flavors, and the attitude of the staff was engaging and cheerful, although I will not being going back as a solo diner.
